Notes

  • World Cup warm-up friendlyEngland went on a two match tour of Colombia and Ecuador to acclimitise themselves to the heat and altitude prior to the 1970 World Cup.
  • Shirt NumbersDirectly prior to this match an England B selection beat a Liga Deportiva Universidad side 4-1. The full touring party totalled 28 players who had squad numbers different from the final World Cup 1970 squad numbers. The England B selection wore the lower numbers hence the reason why the shirt numbers worn in this match look very odd. Six of those 28 players returned home after this match.
  • SubstitutionsA lot of sources seem to suggest that Carerra was replaced at half-time but the TV pictures clearly shows him, at least, playing the first part of the second half.
  • Player MilestoneBrian Kidd's Last Cap
  • Goal MilestoneBrian Kidd's 1st Goal
